Thoughts on paper
Research and writing: Sylvie Berthiaume
Mid-August in the Eastern Townships of Quebec, is always a period enhanced by the heat and the sun accumulated during two months, which brings softness during the day as in the evening, all the more enjoyed as it is known that the beautiful season ends.
This state of nature and this state of mind are conducive to think about important things and people in our life, to encourage several to lie in the grass, and other to put their thoughts on paper.
This is what Les Correspondances d’Eastman is about, since 15 years already, with the popularity and a growing attraction for reading amateurs, words magicians and professional writers.
In 2017, this literary festival is taking place from 10 to 13 August.
From the Academy to children workshop
Special guests as Dany Laferrière, a new member of the French Academy, will give a "MASTER CLASS" one day, and lead a writing workshop for 5 to 10 year-old children.
There will also be a grand interview with the famous cartoonist Michel Rabagliati and a reading on Jack Kerouac, by writer and actor Robert Lalonde.
Words in all ambiances
But the purpose of Les Correspondances d’Eastman is mainly about the works of all the participants, of all ages: animations, workshops, literary Café, literary Brunch, etc. near the lake, under a covered bridge, in a garden, a trail, a park…
And it ends by a friendly writing contest whose theme this year is "the Francophone Archipelago" composed of 274 million persons: The game is to write a letter to one of them.
Foods for the soul and the body
Writing demands energy. The body must then eat and rest. On site, there is a bistro and a picnic area. Nearby, also several restaurants.
The village and the surrounding area have several motels and colorful Bed & Breakfasts.
The fans of literature are usually also delighted to take advantage of the Theater of the Marjolaine nearby, the cabaret Eastman, art galleries, and why not, of Spa Eastman!
Beautiful intellectual and bucolic program.
